It’s been an amazing experience for MyCareerMatch to work with Advertising Industry Careers Directors Owen Joyce and Adam Elliott. Their new and exciting recruitment agency specialising in careers in Advertising and Media created an innovative challenge for MyCareerMatch .. to build a ‘world first’ advertising industry job match quiz.
The first step was to catalogue the occupations and jobs within the industry. We stopped at 162. These ranged from very experienced professionals to those just starting out. We then set about mapping these to profile types. What makes this industry so diverse is its reliance on people who have extraordinary skills and talent who must to work together to meet the client’s needs. This is important as the dynamics of a team working as one makes for success.
The value in projects like these is to highlight employment opportunities in specific industries or professions which often don’t stand out.
Many industries and professions find difficulty in reaching future employees who are not aware of the career choices they offer. Providing an online profile to explore and discover specific careers is a novel and engaging way of connecting with future talent. Matching as MyCareerMatch does, offers personal advice based on the knowledge that types tend to cluster together in similar jobs. There are compelling reasons we should align personal strengths and personality type with career choice, here’s why;
- Job Satisfaction and Fulfillment: A career aligned with one’s strengths and personality is more likely to bring job satisfaction. When individuals are engaged in roles that resonate with their innate abilities and interests, they are more motivated, engaged, and fulfilled.
- Optimal Performance: People tend to excel in roles that play to their strengths. By focusing on what they are naturally good at, individuals can achieve higher levels of performance and make more significant contributions to their fields.
- Reduced Burnout: A mismatch between personality and job requirements can lead to stress and burnout. On the other hand, alignment can result in a more balanced and sustainable career.
- Personal Growth and Development: When individuals are in roles that align with their strengths and personality, they are more likely to seek opportunities for growth, take on challenges, and invest in continuous learning.
